  • Can I bring my child or teen to class with me?
Generally, our evening classes are designed for adults. We may offer classes especially for kids and teens as well as some parent and child classes. In our regular adult classes, every student must be at least 18 years old to attend and 21 to consume alcohol. We will make exceptions if this is a private party/event.
  • What if I have a food allergy?
We ask you to please take caution if you have food allergies or sensitivities. Our recipes use common ingredients that may not be specifically called out in the class menu. This includes different fruits and vegetables, nuts and nut butters, wheat flours, dairy, meats, spices, and more. If you have a food allergy, please discuss with Black Diamond Culinary BEFORE signing up for the class (adjustments will not be made during class). Minor ingredient changes may be considered prior to the class. Black Diamond Culinary is NOT an allergen-free environment. We cannot guarantee that cross contact with allergens will not occur and neither Black Diamond Culinary nor our employees or chefs assume any responsibility for a person's sensitivity or allergy to any food item prepared in our classes.
  • Can I book out the space for a group of my own?
Yes. All classes are a minimum of 6, maximum of 40. 20-26 comfortably may be seated for a sit down dinner, and 40 for a buffet style or heavy appetizers. However because we have blocked a particular day for your group, should you cancel, your deposit will be forfeited.
  • Can I just show up to a class?
No. We'd prefer that you not. We will have all meats and vegetables fresh daily and we will only order enough for those who have booked a class for the evening. First you must check to see which class you're interested in, what day & time is available, and book that class online directly through our website, or through Facebook.
  • What kind of cuisine do you teach?
A little bit of everything. Pasta nights could consist of stuffed ravioli, various fettuccine, or gnocchi with a special sauce. The 4 course dinner could consist of beef, poultry, seafood, or pork. We will let you know in advance of the menu(s).
  • Should I have dinner before attending my class, or will I be eating there?"
You will be eating here! Our goal is to have the first menu item prepared and served within 30 minutes of the class start time. If this is later than you normally eat, we recommend having a light bite before class to tide you over.
  • Will I get a copy of the recipes made during class?
We will post receipes on our website under 'Recipes' at the top of the page. You may find them there to print off at your convenience!
  • What time should I arrive for my class?
We recommend arriving approximately 10-15 minutes prior to class. This way you can put your belongings up, find your spot, and get ready to cook!
  • How much do the classes cost?
The majority of our classes are between $45 – $200. This can change based on the type of class, private parties, and other variables.
  • Do I need any previous cooking experience to enjoy the class?
No previous experience is required! We encourage you to ask questions if there is something you don’t understand. There are no bad questions and our chefs are here to help so that you can recreate a recipe on your own at home.
  • What happens if my class is canceled?
We reserve the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment or if winter weather causes problems. If Black Diamond Culinary cancels a class, a member of the store staff will notify you and issue a refund or credit. Whenever possible, classes will be rescheduled.
  • What is your cancellation policy for classes?
Cooking class and event reservations are just like purchasing theater tickets. We make food purchases on your behalf in advance of the class regardless of your actual attendance. We also have limited space which makes it important for us to have an exact guest count since we often have to turn away potential customers when classes fill. Because we are a 100% reservation based business, we have to adhere to a very specific policy regarding cancellation. Please carefully review this policy below: If you cancel up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to your class (or within 14 days of your private event.), a refund will be issued in the form of class credit only. Within 72 hours prior to your class we CANNOT ISSUE REFUNDS under any circumstances as we have very limited space available and require advanced reservations for all classes. Black Diamond Culinary reserves the right to cancel a class due to inclement weather, COVID related restrictions, or other circumstances beyond our control (e.g., power outages, facility issues, or emergencies). If we need to cancel, we will notify you by telephone and email to ensure we reach you and offer you a credit towards another class in the future. In the event that we have a waiting list and can fill your space we may issue credit to you, but it is not a guarantee that we will be able to do so. Don’t forget – you can always send someone in your place if you can’t make it, simply let us know and we will make an adjustment to your reservation. We reserve the right to cancel any class, at any time, for any reason. We make every effort to give as much advance notice as possible in the rare event that we do have to cancel a class. You may request credit or transfer of payment to another class. If you are signed up for a series of classes, please note that no refunds will be given after the class has begun, regardless of circumstance because space is limited in these classes.
  • Do we cook at peoples homes?

  • Am I expected to cook?

  • Is this a demonstration class?
No. Here we encourage you to find your spot around our teaching island, and to be completely involved.
  • What do I wear?
Clothes! You may make your experience as casual or as dressy as you'd like! Other than that, we just ask that you dress comfortably. You will be provided with an apron to use, but be aware that just like in your home kitchen, you may not want to wear your 'best' clothes.
